The climate of Crans-Montana (Switzerland)
Crans-Montana is a Swiss city in the Valais canton. The cities
Crans-sur-Sierre and Montana merged into Crans-Montana. During the
winter Crans-Montana is a popular skiing resort with 160 kilometers of
skiing tracks and 27 chair lifts. You can even go skiing during the
summer on Glacier de la Plaine Morte which is the longest glacier in
Europe and descends from 3,000 to 1,500 meters. During the summer this
area is well known for its golf courses. One of the most beautiful
courses is the Severiano Ballesteros; the European Masters are held
annually here. Because Crans Montana is protected by the mountains the
climate is mild; during the summer even pleasant. January and February
are the coldest months and can be very unpleasant. Please, bear in
mind that the skiing tracks are at a higher altitude where it may be
much colder.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
