The climate of St. Moritz (Switzerland)
St. Moritz is located in the southern part of Switzerland at an
altitude of 1,850 meters in the Engadine Valley. St. Moritz is said to
be the birthplace of winter sports. In the beginning of the 19th
century the first English tourists came to this chic winter sports
resort. Several skiing areas can be found here. Because sunshine is
almost always guaranteed during the winter it is very pleasant to go
skiing here. A natural bobsleigh track can be found here which can be
used during the winter. Not only winter sports enthusiasts are in the
right place here. To please the well-to-do many expensive restaurants
and shops can be found here. During the winter temperatures will be
far below freezing point. However, because of the sunshine it is
pleasant to stay here. Temperatures are 0.6 degrees Celsius on
average.
