The climate of Jonesboro (Arkansas - United States of America)
Jonesboro is a medium-sized city located in the southwestern part of Arkansas in Craighead County. The city was founded at the beginning of the 19th century. Prior to this the region was home to the Osage, the Caddo and the Quapaw Indians. The city is located on the St. Louis Southwestern Railway. The biggest employer of the city is the Arkansas State University.
Jonesboro has a warm maritime climate with influences of a warm continental climate. Summers are warm with average temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius (86.0 degrees Fahrenheit). During the winter subzero temperatures are not uncommon. Especially during the night it may be very cold. Because the city is located on Tornado Alley there is a risk of tornadoes here.
