The climate of Lewiston (Idaho - United States of America)
Lewiston is a medium sized city located in the northern part of Idaho on the border with the state of Washington. Lewiston is located in Nez Perce County where the Snake River and the Clearwater River flow into each other. The city was founded during the second part of the 19th century during the gold rush. Nowadays the main sources of income are agriculture and logging. Parts of the state of Washington are also part of the Lewiston Metropolitan urban area.
Lewiston has a cold steppe climate with slightly higher precipitation figures than you would expect from this region. Winters are cool to cold with a relatively short period with subzero temperatures. Summers are long and very pleasant. During several days temperatures may reach tropical values. During the winter most precipitation falls in the form of snow.
