The climate of Minneapolis (Minnesota - United States of America)
Minneapolis is the largest city in the state of Minnesota. Minneapolis is located on the banks of the Mississippi in the vicinity of the Saint Anthony waterfalls. Several professional teams that compete in several different leagues and three teams that compete at the highest level play their home matches in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Vikings compete in the American Football League. The Minnesota Twins play in the Major League Baseball and the Minnesota Timberwolves play in the National Basketball Association. All these teams play their home matches in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome Stadium. The Basilica of Saint Mary can be found in Minneapolis. This basilica has been awarded the title of minor basilica.
Minneapolis has a moderate continental climate with long and cold winters and pleasantly warm but short summers. Precipitation figures are highest during the summer. Between showers temperatures may rise up to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). During the winter longer periods with extremely low temperatures are not uncommon. Temperatures may drop to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit).

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
