The climate of Meridian (Mississippi
- United States of America)
Meridian is a medium sized city located in the eastern part of the
state of Mississippi in Lauderdale County. This region was originally
home to the Choctaw Indians. The city was founded on a railroad
intersection during the second part of the 19th century. Meridian is
still an important railroad city. Two airports can be found near the
city, a military airport and a public airport. Outside the city the
Bonita lakes can be found as well as Lake Okatibbee.
Meridian has a warm maritime climate with high precipitation figures.
Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. Summers are
pleasantly warm, it may even get hot. High temperatures in combination
with high precipitation figures cause humidity figures to be high as
well. Winters are mild. However, subzero temperatures may occur during
the night. Meridian is located in Tornado Alley so during tornado
season there is a risk of tornadoes.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
