The climate of Buffalo (New York - United States of America)
Buffalo is located in the northwestern part of the state of New York on the eastern side of Lake Erie and on the banks of the Niagara River. After New York Buffalo is the largest city in this state. The town hall of Buffalo was built in Art Deco style and is well worth visiting. The famous Albright-Knox Art Gallery can be found in the city. In this modern art gallery you can admire the works of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Buffalo has a wet continental climate with many snowy days. On average Buffalo gets 250 centimeters of annual snow spread out over 65 snowy days.
Buffalo has four distinct seasons and precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. Because of the presence of many large lakes in the vicinity of Buffalo the climate has characteristics of a maritime climate. For a city located this far to the north Buffalo gets many hours of sunshine.

The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
