The climate of Portland (Oregon - United States of America)
Portland is a large city located in the northern part of the state of Oregon in the vicinity of the border with the state of Washington. Portland is located in Multnomah County at the junction of the Willamette River and the Columbia River. Portland is among the 25 largest cities in the United States. Portland is known as the City of Roses. Many rose beds can be found in the city. The largest and most famous is the International Rose Test Garden. In this garden more than 7,000 roses of 550 varieties can be found. The Portland Trail Blazers who compete in the National Basketball Association play their home matches in Portland.
Portland has a Mediterranean climate characterized by pleasantly warm summers and cool to mild winters. During the winter subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon. Annual precipitation figures are high, during the winter longer periods with precipitation may occur.
