The climate of Salem (Oregon
- United States of America)
Salem is the capital of Oregon which is a state located in the
northwestern part of the United States. Salem is not the largest city
in Oregon, the largest city is Portland. Many civil servants live in
Salem which has been the capital of the state since 1851. However, in
1855 Corvallis became the temporary capital of the state.
Salem has a moderate maritime climate with characteristics of a
Mediterranean climate. Spring and fall are very erratic. Summers are
pleasantly warm and dry and winters are fairly mild and wet. Salem has
an annual precipitation figure of 1,000 millimeters and gets 5-10
centimeters of annual snowfall. Snow mainly falls in December, January
and February.
