Providence is the capital of the state of Rhode Island and is
centrally located in the interior of the state. The city itself has a
population figure of 100,000. The metropolitan area is home to more
than 1 million people.
According to the Köppen climate classification Providence has a warm
continental climate with warm to hot summers and cool winters in which
subzero temperatures are not uncommon, especially during the night.
Providence has no distinct dry or wet period; precipitation is quite
evenly spread out over the year. Occasionally, peaks in precipitation
