The climate of Huron (South Dakota
- United States of America)
Huron is a small city located centrally in the eastern part of the
state of South Dakota in Beadle County. Huron was founded at the end
of the 19th century and flourished with the coming of a railroad. The
city has its own airport, Huron regional Airport. To the north a large
golf course can be found. In the city center the South Dakota State
Fairgrounds are situated. Huron has a warm continental climate with
cold and long winters from October till March. During this period
temperatures remain below freezing point. Especially during the night
it may be extremely cold. Summers are pleasantly warm to hot. During
the summer temperatures may rise up to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees
Fahrenheit) or even higher. Huron is located in Tornado Alley.
