The climate of Knoxville (Tennessee - United States of America)
Knoxville is a large city located in the eastern part of the state of Tennessee. The skyline of the city is dominated by the Sunsphere which is a watchtower that was built for the 1982 World Fair. Just outside the city Great Smoky Mountains National Park can be found. This park is located in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. With more than 10 million visitors per year this is the best visited park in the United States. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a Unesco preservation site. Knoxville has a warm Mediterranean climate with characteristics of a warm continental climate. The city is located on the spot where these two climate types change into each other. This can especially be noticed during the winter which is colder here than in the more southerly located cities in Tennessee. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the winter precipitation may fall in the form of sleet or snow.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
