The climate of Memphis (Tennessee - United States of America)
Memphis is located in the most southwestern part of the state of Tennessee and is the largest city in this state. The city is located in the vicinity of the borders with the states of Mississippi and Arkansas. Just like Nashville Memphis is known as the music capital of the world. The most popular attraction in the city is Graceland, which used to be the mansion of Elvis Presley. Elvis was buried in the garden of this mansion. Sun Studio can also be found in Memphis. Many songs by Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, B.B. King and Elvis Presley were recorded here. The city was also the scene of Martin Luther King's assassination on 4 April 1968 in the Lorraine Motel, now the National Civil Rights Museum. Memphis has a warm maritime climate slightly influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Summers are pleasantly warm. However, it may get cool during the night. During the warmest days of the year temperatures may rise up to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) or even higher. Winters may be cold. Subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year and may fall in the form of sleet or snow during the winter.
