The climate of El Paso (Texas - United States of America)
El Paso is a large city located in the most westerly part of the state of Texas in El Paso County. Several suburbs of the city are located in the neighboring state of New Mexico. The city is located on the banks of the Rio Grande which forms the natural border with Mexico here. Across the river the Mexican city of Ciudad Juárez can be found. A part of the city was built at the foot of the Franklin Mountains. Just outside the city Fort Bliss can be found. This is one of the largest military bases in the United States. This base is home to 8,500 troops and more than 6,000 civilians earn their living here. El Paso has a warm steppe climate with very low precipitation figures all year round. Winters may be cold with longer periods with subzero temperatures during the night. Summers are warm with average temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). During the summer peaks in temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) are not uncommon. During the summer the sun shines exuberantly.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
