The climate of San Antonio (Texas - United States of America)
San Antonio is a large city located centrally in Texas. San Antonio is among the 10 largest cities in the United States. This region used to be home to several Indian tribes. Remains of a Spanish settlement have been found here as well. In 1845 the state of Texas was annexed which lead to the Texan war of Independence. One of the most famous battles took place in San Antonio, the battle for Alamo. During this battle Davy Crockett was killed. Nowadays the city is home to 1.5 million people while the urban area is home to more than 2 million people. The San Antonio Spurs compete in the National Basketball Association. In total, more than 100,000 students live in San Antonio. Most of whom attend the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Texas A&M University – San Antonio or Alamo Community College District. San Antonio has a warm maritime climate strongly influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Because of this influence temperatures during the winter are slightly higher here than in the more northerly located cities in Texas. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the summer temperatures may rise up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) or even higher.
