The climate of La Crosse (Wisconsin - United States of America)
La Crosse is a small city located in the western part of the state of Wisconsin on the banks of the Mississippi River. La Crosse is a typical university city. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the Viterbo University and Western Technical College are situated here. The city was founded during the second half of the 19th century. However, remains of an earlier civilization have been found. The first settlers were mainly Germans. Nowadays it is a very diverse city. The shopping malls attract many people who live in the region. La Crosse has a moderate continental climate with cold winters and pleasantly warm summers. Summers are short, but pleasant. During the summer temperatures may even reach tropical values. Most precipitation can be recorded during the end of summer. Because of this humidity figures may be high. Winters are very cold. During the winter temperatures hardly rise above freezing point.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
